JUST IN: Legon student arrested after admitting to stealing GH¢100,000 from church, using money for trip to Dubai and more

The Lady, identified as Jessica Ansah, has pled guilty to theft and misapplication of fiduciary property from Christ The King Fellowship.

Ansah was an financial assistant and had worked for the church for 3 years, Church elder says. She was in charge of two of the church’s bank accounts.

“In 2021, Christ The King Fellowship Executive Committee conducted a review of financial reports and expenses. Ansah delayed turning over financial records and it was not until the church obtained the records from the bank that it was discovered that Ansah had been taking money from them as far back as 2019,” the report says.

In all, Ansah reportedly took around GH¢100,000 from the church to pay for things like a trip to Dubai, shopping sprees, restaurant dining, fast food, personal loan payments and personal cell phone payments.

Ansah had no criminal history and she was sentenced to seven years in prison. She is currently awaiting transfer from the police custody to the nsawam prison.

“Members give to their church with the best of intentions. In this case, the money that was meant to be used by the church was instead funding this defendant’s lifestyle,” said Church elder.

Ansah Jessica will be transfered to jail on the 11th April, 2022 to spend seven years in prison.
