A 27-yr-old man currently in custody of the Edo state police command confess to kidnapping and killing his girlfriend because she called off their relationship after four years.
The suspect who identified as John Aipoh and the victim Precious Ikpikhumi. She was 24 year old final year student of the Institute of Health Technology, University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
According to news from the Standard Gazette the suspect, who had initially threatened to kill the victim, before he kidnapped her on her way to church. He confessed that he strangled her with her scarf and dumped her body in a nearby bush.
Before the victim’s death, she sent a voice note to her friend. According to the voice note, she said, “John said I cannot tell him that I am tired of the relationship as he was the one who approached me and he is the one who can decide when it will end.
I told him even if you force me to date you, hope you know you cannot force me to marry you. It is better we have a broken relationship now than a broken marriage.
When the suspect was finally arrested, he was found with the phone of the victim, he also took the police to where he dumped her body.
