WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU’RE NOT ABLE TO LINK YOUR GHANA CARD TO YOUR BANK BEFORE JULY 1

What happens if you’re not able to link your Ghana Card to your bank before the deadline July 1, 2022.
Recall that the Bank of Ghana gave the directive that customers of accredited banks who haven’t updated their records with the Ghana Card have until July 1st to do so, or risk being unable to conduct any financial transactions through their respective bank accounts.
Since the deadline (July 1, 2022) for the Ghana Card link to bank account link is past, many people who failed or were not able to update their Ghana Card with their banks due to certain circumstances have asked out of worry the fate of their accounts.
What happens if you’re not able to link your Ghana Card to your bank before July 1
By July 1, customers who are unable to link their Ghana Card to their bank accounts will not lose their accounts. The accounts will not be closed.
Rather, their risk profile would be elevated. This is according to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Bankers Association, John Awuah.
If a customer fails to link his/her Ghana Card to his/her account, banks will increase their scrutiny of such customers who try to transact business.
However, anytime after the July 1 deadline, customers who have not been able to link their Ghana card can do so easily anytime they visit their bank or via the provided online portals.
The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has also cautioned the public that they shouldn’t use links which are not verified by their banks to link their Ghana Cards. This is due to the fact that fraudsters are taking undue advantage of the exercise to link the Ghana Card to bank accounts. Check Banking Fraud Alert and Awareness Education.
